The Peer Support Team works with behavioral health resources within the community. Our team takes the time to vet each resource so that we can confirm the resources are culturally competent to fire service personnel and our families. These relationships are important to establish for not only the services offered, but the educational opportunities as well.
Life Spring Counseling is a group of therapists out of the Towson, Maryland area. All of their therapists have met with our team and discussed the nuances of working with firefighters and paramedics. While it’s important they know our line of work, we should understand theirs as well. With that being said, Life Spring Counseling offers quite a bit of training on different facets of therapy. Just as there are many options in physical health to get in-shape or remain in-shape, mental health therapy offers different modalities or “exercises”.
On March 26th, Life Springs is offering a free webinar of Brainspotting. Brainspotting is a cutting-edge treatment modality that allows people to do really powerful work. It’s most widely known for helping people work through trauma, but it can also be used to help people work through stress, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, imposter syndrome, chronic pain, grief, and more. The interesting thing about Brainspotting is you don’t have to do a lot of talking with this form of therapy! Brainspotting is definitely not therapy as usual! This free information session will give you more in-depth information about Brainspotting and an opportunity to ask your questions.
